The redesign of the Siege of 1714 Square in the Poble Sec district transforms a fragmented, traffic-dominated space into a clear and coherent urban centre. The triangular square, opening towards Avinguda Paral·lel, is strengthened as the main spatial identity. By converting it into a continuous, barrier-free platform without level changes or parking, a pedestrian-oriented space from façade to façade is created, where the edges of the square become clearly readable.

At its centre, a spatial composition develops from two areas: a larger tree-filled “clearing” as a place for stay, and a smaller triangular zone towards Paral·lel acting as a transition and arrival space. The vegetation is reorganised to support this structure. The two symbolic elements of the square – the monument to the artists of Poble Sec and the flagpole – are repositioned and given a clear spatial integration.

A differentiated material palette and subtle design accents reinforce the spatial clarity. The result is a calm, well-structured urban space that significantly improves the quality of stay and gives the square a strong and distinct identity within the neighbourhood.
